CST Pipe Cutting and Welding Machine

This patented cutting and welding integrated machine is invented by CST. It is used for emergency on-site use, to reconstruct straight pipes, which is 4 meters or less in length and with diameter of DN125. It is fully compatible with CST straight concrete pump pipe.

The Machine is equipped with a grinding wheel cutter and a CNC rotary through-hole tray. It provides carbon dioxide gas-shielded welding and automatic circumferential welding. It is compact and lightweight.

Key Technical Parameters

Grinding wheel cutter power: 2,400 W;Grinding wheel cutter rotation speed: 3,900 r/min;
Grinding wheel specification: 250 mm;Through-hole diameter of the cartridge: Φ150 mm;
Maximum straight pipe processing length: 4,000 mm.

Structural Composition

The machine consists of a frame, tailstock, grinding wheel cutter, through-hole rotary dial, rotation mechanism, swing arc system, controller, and other components.

The straight pipe to be cut or welded is clamped and driven by a three-jaw through-hole double chuck. CNC-controlled rotation speed, rotation angle, and swing arc ensure reliable welding quality, completing the cutting and welding procedures required for pipe modification.

Operating Instructions

Preparations

  • Thoroughly inspect the equipment to ensure all components are intact and functional.
  • Check the power switch, blade tightness, blade guard, and safety baffle in detail. Ensure the operating platform is stable, and adequate lighting is available for night operations.
  • The operating power supply is 220V. Connect the swing arc system power to the controller’s swing arc motor interface, then connect to the power source.

Cutting Procedure

  • Thread the pipe to be cut through the center hole of the dial, with one end placed in the dial’s through-hole and the other supported on the bull-eye roll. Measure the length, align the slit with the grinding wheel, maintain the straight pipe position, and clamp the three jaws.
  • Select Program (1) on the controller. Parameter settings below:
  • Press the start button on the operating keyboard. The straight pipe begins to rotate. Manually activate the grinding wheel cutter and cut the pipe until separation.

Note: Control the manual cutting speed carefully. Excessive speed may significantly reduce the inner pipe hardness and shorten its service life. Keeping the cutting time under 5 minutes ensures the pipe’s longevity. After cutting, press the stop key to halt the chuck rotation, completing the cutting operation.

Welding Procedure

  • Place the straight pipe with the manually assembled spot-welded flange on the tray and tailstock. Adjust the protrusion length of the weld at the tray and clamp the three jaws.
  • Select Program (0) on the controller. Parameter settings below:
  • Set the controller parameters below:
  • Connect the welding machine’s cables and gas lines. Adjust the welding current, voltage, carbon dioxide pressure, and flow rate.
  • Press the start button on the operating keyboard. The straight pipe rotates, the welding gun swings in an arc, and the welding machine starts automatically. Welding begins and stops automatically upon completion.

Note: During welding, pressing the start button pauses the process. Press it again to resume welding.
